Claudia Buccellati is a member of the jury for the first edition of the Mother Teresa of Calcutta “Hymn To Life” International Award, promoted and organised by the “Ali Spahia” Scientific-Humanitarian Association to recognise the social undertaking of important foundations and personalities in the fields of science, culture and business. The invitation-only award ceremony will take place on Monday 2 December 2013 at 6:00 pm in the “Sala delle Colonne” – Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia, in Via San Vittore 21, Milan. The jury, made up of Claudia Buccellati and other world-famous names, has chosen renowned personalities and equally prestigious associations that have contributed through their activities and undertakings to improve the lives of socially disadvantaged groups. The aim of the organisation that operates since 2005, is in fact caring for people from countries with low economic growth, ensuring hospitality and assistance, above all to children, in Italian hospitals, and the promotion of conferences and bursaries for young people and students in medicine and other fields. The Association, under the guidance of its President Nausika Spahia, former Consul General of the Republic of Albania in Milan, continues the activity of her father Dr Ali Spahia, surgeon and statesman, one of the most important intellectual and socially active figures of Albania.   And this is why the award has been established in honour and in the name of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, a nun of Albanian origins who, with her immense charity and faith, dedicated her very existence to others. The “Hymn To Life” award – designed and created by the famous contemporary artist of Albanian origins, Helidon Xhixha – has been recognised for its international prestige and has had the patronage of important bodies such as Lombardy Region, the Province of Milan and the Italian National Chamber of Fashion.   The award ceremony will be presented by Cristina Parodi with the participation of the singer Riccardo Cocciante.
